Nel Gement, nel 1629, l'acqua superava di ben tre metri. Convogli di carrozze e carri dovevano avere un percorso praticabile. Per questo, vennero accumulati dei terreni, tenuti insieme da pali con rami intrecciati tra di essi. Gli olandesi parteciparono a questo imponente lavoro. Quando la Diga Olandese fu completata, la linea attorno alla città di ’s-Hertogenbosch era completamente chiusa. Subito dopo l'assedio di ’s-Hertogenbosch, gli Stati smontarono di nuovo la Diga Olandese. Così, il sistema idrico fu ripristinato e la Diga non poté essere usata contro di loro.
