Il castello di Malbork venne costruito dall'Ordine teutonico come un Ordensburg, cui venne dato il nome di Marienburg . La città che vi crebbe attorno assunse lo stesso nome, oggi divenuta Malbork e appartenente alla Polonia.
Costruito per ordine di Siegfried von Feuchtwangen, il castello di Malbork è situato sulla sponda sudorientale del fiume Nogat ed è quindi accessibile alle navi mercantili e alle chiatte. Esso era inizialmente un convento, poi trasformato in un castello a tutti gli effetti.
