Fu uno dei monasteri più ricchi di Guimarães, fondato nel XVI secolo dal canonico maestro della Collegiata di Nostra Signora dell'Olivo, Baltasar de Andrade.
L'edificio ha una facciata barocca e una statua di Santa Clara al centro. Il chiostro a due piani è in stile classico. La ricca cappella fu svuotata nel XIX secolo e oggi parte della lavorazione del legno dorato si trova nel Museo Alberto Sampaio.
Questo edificio ospita il municipio di Guimarães .
