Putyvl' , è un'antica città dell'Ucraina che si trova nella Oblast' di Sumy. Nel 2001, la popolazione della città era di circa 17.000 abitanti.
Fondata nel 989.
All'epoca della Russia imperiale, Putyvl' era una cittadina del governatorato di Kursk, poi, dal 16 ottobre 1925, a seguito dell'abolizione di tutti i governatorati del passato regime, era entrata a far parte della Repubblica Socialista Sovietica Ucraina, una delle repubbliche sovietiche. Da allora e fino agli anni 1950, quando si giunse a una sistemazione amministrativa e territoriale definitiva, l'Ucraina è stata progressivamente divisa in 24 oblast', che geograficamente corrispondono solo in parte alle province che hanno soppiantato.
