Il Radio City Music Hall, conosciuto negli Stati Uniti come The Showplace of the Nation, fu progettato da Donald Deskey ed inaugurato il 27 dicembre 1932 con la versione cinematografica della commedia di Philip Barry The Animal Kingdom. Il teatro è anche la sede del Radio City Christmas Spectacular, il tradizionale spettacolo natalizio newyorkese in scena dal 1933. L'edificio è inoltre usato per una serie di concerti ed eventi di vario genere. Fra i vari cantanti che si sono esibiti qui in concerto, c'è il grande crooner Frank Sinatra, Roger Waters, bassista dei Pink Floyd, Ella Fitzgerald, John Denver, Ray Charles, BB King, Sting, Liza Minnelli, Tony Bennett, Celine Dion, Josè Carreras, Eurythmics, Linda Ronstadt, L'Orchestra di Count Basie, Sammy Davis jr e gli italiani Eros Ramazzotti e Gigi D'Alessio. Gli interni di Deskey sono considerati uno dei massimi esempi di Art Déco nel mondo, con la particolarissima sala e i suoi accesi colori tendenti a quelli di un infuocato tramonto.
