La campagna di Chattanooga fu una serie di manovre e battaglie svoltesi tra settembre e novembre del 1863 nel quadro del Teatro Occidentale della guerra di secessione americana. A seguito della sconfitta dell'Union Army avvenuta alla battaglia di Chickamauga il 19-20 settembre l'Armata confederata del Tennessee condotta da Braxton Bragg riuscirà temporaneamente ad assediare l'Armata del Cumberland di William Starke Rosecrans ponendo sotto occupazione militare un ampio territorio tutt'attorno a Chattanooga.
Il Maggior generale Ulysses S. Grant ricevette quindi il comando di tutte le forze dell'Unione in quest'area del fronte, largamente consolidatosi dopo il successo ottenuto nella Campagna di Vicksburg e nel relativo Assedio di Vicksburg e con l'immediata apertura delle vie di navigazione interna sul fiume Msissippi. Pertanto cominciarono a giungere significativi rinforzi sia dalla via fluviale a partire da Sud oltre che dal Teatro Orientale della guerra di secessione americana da Est.
