Il Gran Bacino è un bacino idrografico endoreico negli Stati Uniti occidentali, delimitato a nord dall'altopiano del Columbia, ad ovest dalla Sierra Nevada e ad est dalla catena dei Monti Wasatch.
È formato da una serie di catene montuose affiancate da depressioni di forma allungata e disposte longitudinalmente. Vi sono inoltre zone pianeggianti, nelle quali sorgono rilievi montuosi isolati. Le catene montuose hanno un'altitudine che varia tra i 2000 e i 3000 metri.
