La contea di Los Angeles è una contea statunitense situata nella parte meridionale della California, la più popolosa degli Stati Uniti .
La contea ospita 88 città e numerose aree cittadine non incorporate. La fascia costiera della contea è ampiamente urbanizzata, fatta eccezione per alcune aree desertiche nella Santa Clarita Valley, e in particolar modo nella Antelope Valley che comprende la parte nordorientale della contea e l'adiacente Contea di Kern, che delimita la Contea di Los Angeles a nord. Tra le estese porzioni desertiche della contea — che occupano il 40% delle terre — e le zone urbanizzate del centro e del sud si trovano le Montagne di San Gabriel, incluse nella Angeles National Forest. Tutta la parte meridionale della Contea di Los Angeles, che rappresenta il centro istituzionale della regione, è per la maggior parte urbanizzata.
