Il massacro di Colfax si verificò la domenica di Pasqua 13 aprile del 1873 nel territorio della Parrocchia di Grant, quando circa 150 afroamericani vennero uccisi da sudisti banchi; fu il caso più cruento di carneficina a sfondo razziale nel corso dell'Era della Ricostruzione.
Il massacro rappresenta un esempio della determinazione di alcuni oppositori alle Ricostruzione di riconquistare l'autorità di cui godevano prima della guerra di secessione. Tra i neri l'incidente sarà a lungo ricordato per essere la prova che in ogni grande confronto si ritrovavano in una situazione di partenza fatalmente svantaggiata.
