Il Royal Hospital Chelsea è oggi una casa di riposo per anziani soldati inglesi. Nato inizialmente come ospedale, il Royal Hospital si trova a Chelsea, poco distante dal centro di Londra. Oggi sono ospitati all'incirca 300 anziani; presso l'edificio si tiene dal 1913 l'annuale Chelsea Flower Show.
L'ospedale fu edificato per ordine di re Carlo II Stuart a partire dal 1681 e la sua progettazione fu affidata all'architetto Christopher Wren. Per la realizzazione del Royal Hospital, Wren si rifece all'Hôtel des Invalides, costruito nel 1671 a Parigi su ordine di Luigi XIV. Nel 1685, dopo la morte del re Carlo II, i primi pazienti ad essere ospitati nella struttura furono i soldati reduci della battaglia di Sedgemoor. Nel 1692 i lavori vennero conclusi.
