Het Sint-Alexiusbegijnhof in Dendermonde telt 61 huizen die rond een trapeziumvormig binnenplein zijn opgetrokken. Het bestaat op deze plaats sinds 1288. De oorspronkelijke kapel werd in 1914 verwoest en vervangen door een die minder eenvoudig is. De geuzen staken het begijnhof in 1579 in brand; de meeste van de huidige huizen dateren uit het begin van de 17e eeuw. Elk jaar worden hier eind augustus de Begijnhoffeesten gehouden. Oorspronkelijk werden deze feesten georganiseerd om geld in te zamelen voor de restauratie van het begijnhof.
