The St. James the Greater Church is a church located at the Oude Markt in the Dutch city of Enschede. The Jacobus parish is particularly known as the parish where Alphons Ariëns worked as a chaplain. In his memory, the 'Ariënsgedachtenis-viering' is held here annually in November.
The first parish church in Enschede since the Reformation was built at the Oude Markt in 1842. This neoclassical building, designed by Christiaan Kramm, was destroyed during the city fire in 1862 and replaced in 1863 by a church in neo-Gothic style, designed by H.J. van den Brink. This church was demolished in 1932 due to its dilapidated condition.
