Hitler had het plan om Linz om te vormen tot een supermuseum dat de meesterwerken van de wereld wou tentoonstellen. Er zou ook een galerij van verslagen naties zijn die de schatten van die naties zou tonen.
Een van die werken zou het Lam Gods van Van Eyck zijn. Dit topwerk uit de Europese schilderkunst moest na de oorlog een ereplaats krijgen in het door Hitler geplande grote nieuwe museum in Linz, zijn geboorteplaats.
