Ze bevindt zich in het boventimmetdal in de Oost-Tiroolse gemeente Prägraten op een hoogte van 2521 m boven zeeniveau, iets buiten het Nationaal Park Hohe Tauern. Bijna een uur ten noorden van de hut ligt achter een wal het Eissee op 2664 m boven zeeniveau. De hut is in 1980 gebouwd en biedt in totaal 45 slaapplaatsen. Het is het uitgangspunt voor tien drieduizenders.
