Het Academisch Gymnasium Graz is een van de oudste scholen in de Duitstalige wereld, de oudste hogere school van Stiermarken en na de Academische Gymnasia in Linz, Wenen en Innsbruck de op drie na oudste van de vijf Academische Gymnasia in Oostenrijk. De school werd op 12 november 1573 opgericht in het kader van de Contra-Reformatie als jezuïetencollege in Graz. Het diende als een voorlopige stap naar de op 1 januari 1585 opnieuw opgerichte Universiteit Graz.
