In vergelijking met het parlement oogt het Wiertzmuseum maar nietig. De weinig bescheiden Belgische schilder Antoine Wiertz (1806-1865) overtuigde in 1851 de Belgische staat om hem een woning, atelier en grote tuin te geven in ruil voor zijn nalatenschap. Vandaag hangen daar nog steeds een aantal van zijn sterk romantische werken waarvan sommige zo groot zijn dat ze zelfs zijn ego overtreffen. De schrijver Hendrik Conscience, de allereerste conservator van het museum, schreef hier menig werkje.
Recent kocht het EP de intieme tuin en maakte hem toegankelijk. Er worden regelmatig concerten gegeven. In het woongedeelte vinden vergaderingen plaats.
