Dit gerestaureerde oude atelier omvat: een zaal gewijd aan de regionale geologie, een ruimte die de economische, historische en sociale aspecten van de exploitatie van coticule* (scheermessteen) in de regio illustreert.
De * Coticule is een rotsformatie die nergens ter wereld te vinden is, behalve in deze regio. Deze steen met zeer fijne aders, 2 tot 4 cm dik en afkomstig van de paarse Phyllade, bestaat voornamelijk uit zeer fijne granaatkristallen, geagglomereerd door iets wat op een kleiachtig cement lijkt. De geelachtige kleur is typisch voor dit mineraal. De slijpsteen uit de regio Vielsalm is zo bekend dat deze naar alle landen ter wereld wordt geëxporteerd.
