Coticule Museum

This restored former workshop includes: a room dedicated to regional geology, a space illustrating the economic, historical, and social aspects of the exploitation of coticule* (sharpening stone) in the region.
The *Coticule is a rock formation found nowhere else in the world, except in this region. This stone with very fine veins, measuring between 2 and 4 cm thick and originating from the violet Phyllade, is mainly composed of very fine garnet grains, agglomerated by what resembles a clay-like cement. The yellowish color is typical of this mineral. The sharpening stone from the Vielsalm region is so well-known that it is exported to all countries in the world.
