Description

Gemeentehuis van Westerlo. Het kasteel van gravin Jeanne de Merode werd in 1910 opgetrokken in de Brabants-gotische stijl van de 16e eeuw. Het werd gebouwd volgens plan van de Leuvense architect Langerock. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het kasteel ingenomen door de Duitsers. Later diende het als rustoord voor bejaarde priesters. In 1972 kocht de gemeente het kasteel en richtte het in als gemeentehuis en als cultureel centrum.
