Het kerkje van Bavegem is opgetrokken uit baksteen maar aan de voet van de muren zie je nog de zandstenen waarop de kerk is gebouwd. Die stenen zijn van een voormalige Romaanse eenbeukig zaalkerk. De kerk werd vergroot omstreeks 1910.
