Vroeger was het Sint-Goriksplein omgeven door de armen van de Zenne en vormde zo het Sint-Gorikseiland, ook Groot Eiland genoemd. De overdekte Sint-Gorikshallen zelf dateren van 1874 en tot in de jaren ‘70 werd er een zeer populaire markt gehouden.
Ga links eens door de koetspoort van het restaurant Ô Lion d'Or, een postrelais uit de 17de eeuw. Op de binnenplaats ontdek je een reconstructie van de vroegere Zennearm die beide eilanden van elkaar scheidde (de rivier stroomt er nu niet meer!).
Opgelet: er is momenteel geen toegang voor het publiek omwille van de sanitaire situatie.
