Dit is het oudste fort van de Brialmontomwalling, gebouwd rond 1860. Het moest Antwerpen beschermen tegen aanvallen. Nu hebben heel wat verenigingen hier hun lokalen, net als de Academie. Het is ook dé plek om van de buitenlucht te genieten. En dat kan niet alleen wandelend. Kinderen leven zich uit in het speelbos. Skaters kunnen tricks oefenen in de SkateK8, een overdekt skatepark. En heb je ooit al discgolf gespeeld? Het lijkt op traditionele golf, maar dan met een frisbee. Fort 3 is ook ecologisch belangrijk. Jaarlijks overwinteren hier tal van vleermuizen, waaronder ook enkele bedreigde soorten. Gallowayrunderen helpen om de wildgroei van de Japanse duizendknoop rond het fort in te perken.
