Aarschot is een stad in de Belgische provincie Vlaams-Brabant. De stad ligt in het arrondissement Leuven en telt 30.175 inwoners , die Aarschottenaars of ook kasseistampers worden genoemd.Volgens een legende zou het toponiem Aarschot komen van Arendschot. Het verhaal gaat dat Aurelianus een arend neerschoot, en op de plek waar die vogel neergekomen is, zou Aarschot, of Arendschot, gesticht zijn. De plaats waar de bek van de vogel neergekomen zou zijn heet nu Bekaf.
