Standbeeld van graaf Paul de Smet de Naeyer (1843-1913). De Gentse politicus was eerst minister van Openbare Werken en Financiën en van 1896 tot 1907 Eerste Minister van België. Het standbeeld is een eerbetoon van de gemeente Wenduine aan de graaf die in zijn hoedanigheid als minister onder andere bij de kuststeden talrijke verfraaiingswerken liet uitvoeren. Een eerste beeld wordt opgericht in 1911 maar in 1916 door de Duisters ontmanteld en hersmolten voor de oorlogsindustrie. In 1930 ontwerpt Karel De Kessel een nieuw beeld. Het beeld stond eerst meer westwaarts met de rug naar de zee opgesteld. Bij de aanleg van een ondergrondse parking in 1984 verhuist het beeld naar de huidige plaats nu met de blik gericht naar de zee.
