Statue du Comte Paul de Smet de Naeyer (1843-1913). Le politicien gantois fut d'abord ministre des Travaux publics et des Finances et, de 1896 à 1907, Premier ministre de Belgique. Le statue est un hommage de la commune de Wenduine au comte qui, en tant que ministre, a fait réaliser de nombreux travaux d'embellissement dans les villes côtières. Une première statue est érigée en 1911 mais démontée en 1916 par les Allemands et refondue pour l'industrie de guerre. En 1930, Karel De Kessel conçoit une nouvelle statue. La statue était d'abord orientée plus à l'ouest, tourné le dos à la mer. Lors de la construction d'un parking souterrain en 1984, la statue est déplacée à son emplacement actuel, désormais face à la mer.
