Het Sint-Gillisvoorplein is een absolute aanrader om iets te drinken of eten. Het is een ontwerp van top landschapsarchitect Bas Smets. Over zijn inspiratie voor dit plein vertelt Bas Smets het volgende. De lijnen komen van het Piazza del Campo in Siena. Op de vraag waarom er niet al te veel bomen mochten staan op het plein is zijn antwoord: “om de uitzonderlijke kwaliteit van de gevels tot hun recht te laten komen”.
