Schuitendok:
In het verlengde van het Grote Dok, de huidige Handelskaai, lag het Schuitendok. Met zijn aanlegsteigers leek het dok eerder op een plezierhaven. Hier gingen de aanstaande reizigers aan boord. Op de plaats van een van die steigers ligt nu de Schuitenkaai, in het verlengde van de Timmerhoutkaai, tegenover de Kalkkaai en de Steenkoolkaai. De namen getuigen van de voormalige industriële activiteiten in deze wijk. Het Schuitendok bood toegang tot het laatste, statige deel van de binnenhaven van Brussel, waar nu de uitgestrekte vismarkt ligt.
