Op de stedelijke begraafplaats (tussen knooppunt 33 en 23) vonden Boon en Daens hun laatste rustplaats. Iets verderop ligt het kasteel van Regelsbrugge. In 1885 brak in Aalst een crisis uit, toen een groot aantal fabrieksarbeiders op straat werd gezet. Boon beschrijft in Pieter Daens op ironische wijze hoe een telg uit de katholieke bankiersfamilie Liénart, ondanks deze crisis, toch het kasteel van Regelsbrugge kon kopen. Het was omgeven met prachtige boomgaarden en bossen, vijvers en sloten. Het kasteel werd in 1930 gekocht door Hippolyte Schotte, die mee aan de wieg stond van de Aalsterse leerlooierij Schotte.
