Het Sint-Jozefinstituut en de kapel dateren uit 1935-1936 en werden ontworpen door A. Bressers, architect uit Gent. De kapel is één van de opmerkelijkste religieuze bouwwerken uit het Interbellum. Invloeden uit de art deco, romantisch kubisme en lokale baksteenarchitectuur vormen er een harmonieus geheel met elementen uit de vroegchristelijke en byzantijnse kunst. Zodra u de art-decopoort opent, wordt u overweldigd door de kleurenpracht van de mozaïeken, de schitterende glasramen en muurschilderingen. De indrukwekkende koepel straalt triomfalisme uit!
