Wist je dat hier in het Kartuizerklooster van Herne de eerste Bijbelvertaling, van het Latijn naar het Nederlands (volkstaal), heeft plaatsgevonden. Het klooster is van onschatbare waarde omdat het klooster van Herne het oudste in de Nederlanden is, en omdat Het Kartuizerklooster van Herne kende een bovenlokale uitstraling en aanzien, en vervulde de functie van literair centrum in de lage Landen. In 2014 was het precies 700 jaar geleden dat het Kartuizerklooster van Herne als eerste in de Nederlanden werd gesticht.
