Description

Het meest noordelijke deel van het Heideland op Antwerps grondgebied is Stoppelenberg. Dit gebied werd in de 19e eeuw beplant met bomen voor de houtproductie. De meeste bossen in de omgeving dateren ook uit die periode. Op Stoppelenberg werd een groot areaal zeedennen aangeplant. Door de halfopen structuur van deze bomen, is dit een aantrekkelijk leefgebied voor een heel bijzondere vogel: de nachtzwaluw.
