Deze bron voedt de vijver van het Kasteel Groenenberg. Zoals vele bronnen hier in de buurt zit deze bron ook op ongeveer 60 m boven de zeespiegel. Dat is niet toevalig. Die hoogte komt overeen met een kleilaag die op deze hoogte zit. Die kleilaag houdt het water op en daar waar die laag dagzoomt tref je tal van bronnen aan. Dit noemen geografen en geologen een bronniveau.
