Café De Schorpioen in Kalken kan je zeker onder de term "volkscafé" schuiven. Maar wist je dat het ook het goedkoopste café van Vlaanderen is (althans in 2017). "Een pintje kost hier sinds 2012 90 cent.... Ik sta bekend als het goedkoopste café van het land en dat wil ik zo houden. Zolang ik hier ben, gaan de prijzen niet meer omhoog", zei uitbater Marc Van De Velde in 2012. Hopelijk kunnen we nog lang genieten van dit volkscafé en gaat het door de hogere kosten niet op de fles.
