De benaming 'de Klot' verwijst naar een klomp, een kluit veen of turf. Tussen de jaren 1250 en 1750 werd hier op haast industriële schaal turf ontgonnen.
De turf werd afgevoerd naar Roosendaal, Bergen-op-Zoom, Antwerpen.
Verder tonen plannen uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog dat ter hoogte van de toren ook de Doodendraad liep.
In het kader van de vele herdenkingen is ook een reconstructie van deze draad aan de voet van de toren te bewonderen.
De foto met de witte Klot is nog een oude foto, de toren is in 2024 vernieuwd.
