La dénomination 'de Klot' fait référence à une mottes de tourbe ou de terre. Entre 1250 et 1750, de la tourbe y a été extraite à une échelle presque industrielle.
La tourbe était transportée vers Roosendaal, Bergen-op-Zoom, Anvers.
De plus, des plans de la Première Guerre mondiale montrent que le Doodendraad passait également à hauteur de la tour.
Dans le cadre des nombreuses commémorations, une reconstitution de ce fil est également visible au pied de la tour.
La photo avec le Klot blanc est encore une ancienne photo, la tour a été renouvelée en 2024.
