Die Bezeichnung 'de Klot' verweist auf einen Klumpen, einen Block Torf oder Moor. Zwischen 1250 und 1750 wurde hier fast im industriellen Maßstab Torf abgebaut.
Der Torf wurde nach Roosendaal, Bergen-op-Zoom, Antwerpen transportiert.
Weiterhin zeigen Pläne aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg, dass in Höhe des Turms auch der Doodendraad verlief.
Im Rahmen der zahlreichen Gedenkfeiern ist auch eine Rekonstruktion dieses Drahtes am Fuß des Turms zu bewundern.
Das Foto mit dem weißen Klot ist noch ein altes Foto, der Turm wurde 2024 erneuert.
