De terreinen van de voormalige Britse basis, verwijzend naar de Britse aanwezigheid tussen 1951 en 1992, worden gekenmerkt door een complex van uitgestrekte loof- en naaldbossen, afgewisseld met een aantal open graslanden, heide, moerassen en struwelen. De kleine oppervlakten heide vormen restanten van een oorspronkelijk uitgestrekt heidegebied te Grobbendonk en Herentals. In het gebied bevinden zich enkele belangrijke historische relicten, zoals de relicten van de in 1414 gestichte priorij Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Ten-Troon.
