Het feodale Hof van Elsmeren werd in 1667 afgebroken en door het huidige kasteelcomplex vervangen; verbouwingswerken in de jaren 1880 gingen gepaard met de aanleg van een eerste landschappelijk park (1 hectare 73 are), de restauratie- en verfraaiingswerken in 1923-1927 met de uitbouw van neotraditionele, regelmatig-symmetrische structuren (parterretuin op de binnenplaats van het neerhof, terras, watertuin) en de landschappelijke verfraaiing (kleurrijke solitairen en bomengroepjes) van de grotere omgeving.
