Het Hof van Oranje, met resten van omwalling, is ingeplant in een beboomde omgeving, met onder meer treurwilgen, en wordt omgeven door akkers en weilanden. Eertijds werd het ook goed ten Haandert genoemd, reeds vermeld in de 15de eeuw. Tot 1772 stond er een klein kasteel.
