Emmels bestaat feitelijk uit twee kernen: Ober Emmels en Nieder Emmels, die vlak bij elkaar liggen. De grootste kern is Nieder Emmels. Deze ligt aan de N 62. Hier staat ook de kerk: de Sint-Michielskerk. Verder ligt hier een oud schoolgebouw van 1852, dat in 1996 werd geklasseerd als monument.
