Je staat middenin de Brusselse wijk Matonge. Het is een wijk waar vooral Brusselaars met Afrikaanse roots elkaar ontmoeten en hun boodschappen doen.
Het ontstaan van deze wijk begint met de oprichting van La Maison Africaine, begin jaren 1960. Deze organisatie in de Elzas-Lotharingenstraat herbergt Congolese en andere Afrikaanse studenten. Voor de Congolese onafhankelijkheid in 1960 bevinden zich in deze wijk bovendien veel koloniale bars, waar mensen die terugkomen uit Congo afspreken en zaken doen. De wijk wordt zo een koloniale hub in de achtertuin van het Koninklijk Paleis.
De route gaat verder langs de recent autoluw gemaakte Elsensesteenweg. Een hele verbetering voor tweewielers en voetgangers!
