Getuige van de opkomst van de glasindustrie aan het begin van de afgelopen eeuw en gebouwd door architect Emile Claes, heeft het Varia-theater een bijzondere fysionomie: met zijn drie koepels versierd met grimassende maskers, die naar de hemel wijzen, met zijn brede gevel geaccentueerd door hoge pilasters gekroond met bollen en de afgeronde lijnen van de top van de gevels, doet het denken aan de Weense Art Nouveau. In 1986 buiten gebruik gesteld, is het sinds 1992 geclassificeerd vanwege zijn buitenste omhulsel.
