Teralfene wordt in sommige anekdotes of legendes als domoord of domplaats afgeschilderd. Zo is er een legende waarbij God de dorpen aan het plaatsen of maken was. Maar Teralfene viel van zijn kar op de plaats waar het nu ligt. Maar het was wel de bedoeling dat het dorp in de buurt van Geel moest liggen. Geel is al eeuwen bekend als opvangcentrum voor Menen met een psychisch probleem., of "gekken" in het verleden.
