Het kunstwerk werd gemaakt door de kunstenaar Peter Hodiamont. Het werd geschonken in 1989 door de Lions Club van Eupen.
Het werk symboliseert met zijn vredesduiven en de 8 plaquettes de vrede voor de hele wereld, voor België, tussen Walen en Vlamingen, tussen religies, tussen industrie en landbouw, tussen buren , voor de stad Eupen en in de familie.
