Winterberg is voor Nederland het dichtstbijzijnde wintersportgebied en skigebied. Door het gebruik van sneeuwkanonnen is het skigebied behoorlijk sneeuwzeker. Naast het skigebied heeft Winterberg ook een tweetal skischansen en een officiële rodel- en bobsleebaan. Een groot skigebied ligt rondom de berg Kahle Asten.
In de zomer is het een gezellig wandeldorp.
