In de Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Bad Dürrenberg van de Saalekreis waren vier gemeenten samengevoegd voor de uitvoering van de administratieve taken. De Verwaltungsgemeinschaft bestond sinds 1992 onveranderd. Op 1 april 2006 kwam de gemeente Nempitz bij de Verwaltungsgemeinschaft. Op 31 december 2009 werd Spergau bij Leuna ingelijfd, op 1 januari 2010 werden Nempitz en Tollwitz opgenomen in de stad Bad Dürrenberg, waardoor de Verwaltungsgemeinschaft werd opgeheven.
