Lauterecken is een plaats in de Duitse deelstaat Rijnland-Palts, gelegen in de Landkreis Kusel. Lauterecken telt 1.978 inwoners.
Op 20 mei 1945 vond er nabij Lauterecken in de deelstaat Rijnland-Palts een treinongeval plaats. In de trein bevonden zich Nederlandse ex-krijgsgevangenen die onderweg waren naar huis. Ten gevolge van het ongeval kwamen acht Nederlanders om het leven en er waren een tiental gewonden. De krijgsgevangenen waren afkomstig uit een gevangenenkamp te Mühlberg / Elbe in het oosten van Duitsland. Dat kamp stond bekend als Stammlager IV B en werd op 23 april 1945 door het leger van de Sovjet-Unie bevrijd.
