Lauterecken è un comune nello stato tedesco della Renania-Palatinato, situato nel circondario di Kusel. Lauterecken conta 1.978 abitanti.
Il 20 maggio 1945 si è verificato un incidente ferroviario vicino a Lauterecken, nello stato della Renania-Palatinato. A bordo del treno si trovavano ex prigionieri di guerra olandesi che erano in viaggio verso casa. A causa dell'incidente otto olandesi persero la vita e ci furono una decina di feriti. I prigionieri di guerra provenivano da un campo di prigionia a Mühlberg / Elbe nell'est della Germania. Quel campo era conosciuto come Stammlager IV B ed è stato liberato il 23 aprile 1945 dall'esercito dell'Unione Sovietica.
