Dit tolhuis, een laat middeleeuws herenhuis dateert van 1589 en huisvest heden het stadsmuseum. Dit museum heeft een zaal ingericht die gewijd is aan Prins Claus van Nederland. Foto's en documenten herinneren aan de verloving. In oktober 1965 stelde Prins Claus vanaf het balkon van het Rathaus zijn toekomstige echtgenote, de toonmalige Kroonprinses Beatrix, voor aan de inwoners van Hitzacker. Na de dood van Prins Claus werd in juni 2005 een borstbeeld opgericht op het plein voor het nieuwe Rathaus in het Bürgerpark.
