De kanaalovergang bij Münster-Gelmer is een belangrijk industrieel monument uit het einde van de 19e eeuw. Het maakte de overbrugging van de "Oude Vaart" van het Dortmund-Ems-kanaal over de Ems mogelijk, vlakbij Gelmer. Vanwege de gebiedsreforma in Noordrijn-Westfalen per 1 januari 1975 bevindt het bouwwerk zich sindsdien gedeeltelijk op het grondgebied van de stad Münster en gedeeltelijk op dat van de stad Greven, aangezien de stadsgrens in dit gebied nu de rivierbedding is.
